The factorial mystery -- Why zero factorial equals one
Ever since I was almost 6, I have had the question of why does zero factorial equal one. Thankfully, five years later, I decided to give my younger self some answers to this mystery. The proofs are divided into: Proof 1: Proof by division, which uses the definition of factorials and a specific pattern to prove that 0! = 1 Proof 2: Proof by permutations, by showing that there are n! was to arrange n objects, and using that to prove that 0! = 1 We'll also show, using these proofs, why -1! is not possible, and along the way, you'll enjoy some popcorn while I answer to my younger self's curious question Enjoy!
